INTERNATIONAL PLASTIC SURGERY FOR DEVELOPING AND CRISIS COUNTRIES

 

The INTERPLAST surgical teams are experienced plastic surgeons, anaesthetists and surgical nurses making their holidays available for operations completely free of charge in developing countries.

Medicine and surgical instruments brought by the doctors as well as the charges of transport and accommodation of the team are funded by donations.

 

WE LEND OUR AID TO THE POOREST IN THE WORLD

All over the world, people suffer from diseases leaving bad scars and disfigurement. Accidents involving burns or animal bites are also very common. Children in particular suffer from this and often have to struggle with it their whole lives.

In many crisis areas, people become victims of violent conflicts. Especially for children, these assaults are traumatizing and without any appropriate treatment, normal life is impossible.

Doctors from INTERPLAST go to crisis areas free of charge in their free time to operate and treat people in need. In this way, children can be helped to live a life of dignity that would otherwise be denied to them.

Uganda, April 2025

St. Francis Hospital Mutolere, Kisoro, Uganda

11.04.2025 bis 18.04.2025.

 

Ein dritter Einsatz von Interplast Schweiz war im St. Francis Hospital Mutolere geplant. Diesmal wurde das Team der plastischen und rekonstruktiven Chirurgie durch einen Handchirurgen ergänzt. Ziel des Teams war es, Kontrakturen nach Verbrennungen und angeborene Defekte zu operieren und Rekonstruktionen nach Tumoroperationen durchzuführen. Darüber hinaus diente der Einsatz der Evaluierung des St. Francis Hospital Mutolere für künftige Einsätze im Bereich der Handchirurgie.

Mali, März 2025

Golden Life Hospital, Bamako, Mali

Die abgesagten Flüge haben den Erfolg eines weiteren Interplast-Einsatzes in Bamako, Mali, nicht beeinträchtigt. Das Interplast-Team konnte Brustrekonstruktionen nach radikaler Mastektomie durchführen, eine sogar mit einem weiteren mikrochirurgischen DIEP-Lappen. Außerdem konnten wir zahlreiche Brandopfer behandeln und Patienten mit angeborenen Defekten versorgen.

Ghana, Januar 2025

Spital St Joseph in Koforidua, Ghana

 

 

Bereits das vierte Mal reiste ein Team von Interplast Switzerland nach Koforidua, Ghana. Diesmal bestand das 10- köpfige Fachteam aus zwei Handchirurginnen, einer Anästhesistin, einer Anästhesiepflege, zwei technischen Operationsassis- teninnen, einer Ergotherapeuin, zwei Studentinnen und einer Köchin.

26 Patienten, elektiv sowie auch notfallmässig, konnten während knapp 2 Wochen operiert werden.
